Korean corn dogs, one of the most beloved street foods in Korea, are suddenly popping up everywhere. In recent months, New Yorkers have been spotted waiting in long lines to get a bite of the extra crispy, slightly sweet, and saucy concoctions filled with mozzarella cheese, a hot dog, or both. These Korean corn dogs set themselves apart from American ones because of their (dare we say: superior) toppings and batter. Some shops use rice flour in the batter, creating a slightly chewy-yet-light texture to every bite. Another pro tip: Don't go light on toppings, either. To get the whole experience, be sure to ask for the Korean corn dog to be tossed in sugar and drizzled with all types of sauces — from cheesy cheddar sauce to creamy mayo.

While this delightful snack took some time to show up in NYC, at least compared to LA, New Yorkers finally have several options to try. The demand for Korean corn dogs doesn't seem to be slowing down, either. Here's where to try the crispiest Korean corn dogs in NYC, from the classic, sugar-sprinkled kind to ramen-studded ones.

While it's not a restaurant, it's worth noting that there is an excellent selection of frozen Korean corn dogs sold at various locations of H Mart. There's no long line to get crispy Korean corn dogs here and there are only a few simple steps before enjoying the snack: pick a preferred brand and fry them in an air fryer or oil — yes, they can taste as good as the restaurant ones. You can come up with your own sauce varieties, either by mixing ketchup and mayo or even honey mustard. Some notable brands to look out for at H Mart are Lotte's Mozzarella Cheese & Potato Hotdog, Kikeni Crispy Mozzarella Corn Dog, and Pulmuone Breaded Mozzarella & Fish Cake on a Stick.

The Basac is one of the earliest shops offering Korean corn dogs in NYC, featuring six different varieties of the popular street food. Made with glutinous rice flour, the corn dogs here are fried to a perfect golden brown with a chewy and crispy texture. Some of the unique options — corn flakes and seed & nuts — create a special coating for the corn dogs. The best part of eating corn dogs at the Basac is to pair them with other menu items, such as tabletop tteokbokki, spicy Korean rice cakes. Dip the corn dogs into the spicy broth of tteokbokki or bubbling Korean army stew for the best bite.

Located on a bustling stretch of Roosevelt Avenue in Flushing, this small outpost fries eight different kinds of corn dogs, including a half-sized version for kids. All the classic offerings, from the mozzarella-stuffed one to a classic beef sausage one, are available. Unlike other venues, all of the offerings here have potato toppings — adding extra crunch to each bite — for an additional 75 cents. A special item that can only be found here is the Premium Pizza Ugdog, which is made with a whole mozzarella cheese chunk, dipped in a light batter, fried to a golden brown hue, and topped with tomato sauce, basil pesto, garlic powder, and parsley. Don't forget to try the ugly donuts, a deep-fried twist of dough, ideally served with whipped cream.

A plump hot dog is dipped in a rice batter and coated with broken dry ramen noodle pieces that adds savory and crunchy notes. Six different sauces, from cheddar sauce to honey mustard, are also offered and it's a DIY affair, so diners can customize how much sauce coats each corn dog. (Multiple locations)

This delivery-only spot is a welcomed addition for those craving crispy Korean corn dogs in Long Island City and Astoria. The menu highlights six different kinds of corn dogs, including ones with potatoes. Because it doesn't have a brick-and-mortar space yet, Krazy Korean Dogz doesn't provide much customization with seasonings and sauces. Still, there's a whole slew of other items that you can order along with Korean corn dogs, including matcha milk bubble tea, truffle fries, spam fried rice, and more.

This popular franchised corn dog spot is quickly building its fanbase with a line of whimsical Korean dogs. They have created a set menu with their signature sauces and seasonings, including sweet ranch sauce, spicy sauce, dirty sauce, and more. There are seven different options, including American corn dog, with a side of Dirty Fries made with tater tots. Insa doesn't serve a traditional version, but it offers something similar to the familiar crispy, crunchy texture that Korean corn dogs are known for in this one-of-a-kind riff. Enter the Seafood "Corn Dog." Served on a stick, this seafood "corn dog" is made with fish paste in the form of sausage wrapped around a stick, finished with a drizzle of ketchup and mayo. It may not have that light, fluffy fried batter encasing the sausage, but it's as savory and meaty as any Korean corn dog.
